Tuckahoe ZIP Code Coverage
Census profile and ZCTA geography identify four codes that are fully or partly within the Tuckahoe CDP: 23226, 23229, 23233, and 23238. “Overlap” is deliberate wording. The sources do not show that any one code is wholly Tuckahoe, and they do not provide a verified percentage of a delivery area inside the CDP.
Postal locations help normalize mail, while a parcel and Census geography answer different questions. The following coverage table states the documented relationship and leaves the unknown boundary share unknown. It should not be used to count people, households, registrations, or parcels by ZIP.
| ZIP code | Areas covered | Post office evidence | Tuckahoe note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 23226 | Westhampton postal area and nearby Regency service area | Westhampton Post Office, Richmond | CDP overlap or edge; a Richmond postal city does not settle the jurisdiction |
| 23229 | Tuckahoe and West End association | Regency Post Office, Henrico | Core or overlap ZIP; not every 23229 address is in the Tuckahoe CDP |
| 23233 | Western Henrico, Short Pump, and Ridgefield geography | Henrico postal last-line evidence | Partial western overlap or edge; exact CDP share was not located |
| 23238 | Western edge geography | Ridge station, Henrico | Partial western overlap or edge; verify by exact street and parcel |
The Census QuickFacts profile for Tuckahoe CDP supplies population and area statistics for the CDP, not a list of ZIP residents and not four ZIP populations that can be added together. Keep those geographic units separate.
Tuckahoe ZIP Geography
Each address needs three geography checks. USPS answers the present delivery question: which ZIP and postal city does this address use? Census ZCTA and CDP geography answer a statistical-overlap question. Henrico parcel and jurisdiction data answer which assessed parcel, subdivision, precinct, and county record contains the situs. A result can be accurate in all three systems while displaying different city labels.
Tuckahoe is a census-designated place, not an incorporated city. Richmond is an independent city. That is why a Richmond postal label, especially around the 23226 overlap, does not prove a Richmond City address or disprove a Henrico and Tuckahoe connection. Use the parcel location and Census boundary for the local conclusion, not the postal line alone.
Note: A ZIP is a delivery geography, while a CDP and a county parcel are different geographic records with separate purposes.
Tuckahoe Postal Labels by ZIP
23229 is the most locally legible code in the table because Regency Post Office is at 2000 Starling Drive in Henrico, and Tuckahoe Area Library uses 23229. Its local familiarity does not make it a Tuckahoe-only ZIP. The same code also reaches the West End, so the street address and parcel still control the CDP decision.
23226 provides the clearest postal-city warning. The documented Westhampton Post Office is at 805 Glenburnie Road in Richmond, while the Census ZCTA can overlap the Tuckahoe and Henrico edge. The Regency Post Office listing and the Westhampton Post Office listing identify their respective postal locations, not an official Tuckahoe boundary.
Tuckahoe ZIP Label Quirk
23233 and 23238 show why old postal labels need dates. USPS FAST and DMM material groups 23233, 23238, and 23242 under a Henrico last line in one service artifact. A Postal Bulletin notice states that, effective October 1, 2008, the preferred last line for 23233 and 23238 changed from Richmond, Virginia to Henrico, Virginia.
That date is evidence of postal-label history, not a Tuckahoe annexation or a change in CDP boundaries. An older document can therefore carry a Richmond postal city while the same current delivery geography uses Henrico. Keep the exact line printed on the historical source, then confirm the parcel and the relevant time period before drawing a location conclusion.
Note: The 2008 preferred-last-line change explains a mailing label difference; it does not create a whole-ZIP boundary for Tuckahoe.
Check a Tuckahoe ZIP Code
The official USPS ZIP Lookup is the first check for a current address. It normalizes delivery information. It is not an archive of historic ZIP boundaries, and the research did not locate official archived address-history coverage. Avoid publishing a private address merely to demonstrate the tool.
| USPS field or mode | Input type | Required | Use in the check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Street Address | Text | Yes for street-to-ZIP | Enter the current street address. |
| City | Text | Yes for street-to-ZIP | Enter the postal city, which may be Henrico or Richmond. |
| State | Dropdown or text | Yes | Select Virginia or enter VA. |
| Street Address + ZIP | Two text fields | Yes for ZIP-to-address | Use the reverse check for a standardized address. |
| Find / lookup | Button | Not applicable | Returns the current standardized ZIP or address result. |
Record the standardized address, ZIP, and postal city exactly as returned. Then move to the county parcel record for jurisdiction and to Census geography for CDP overlap. A current USPS response should not be used to backdate an old directory, deed, or census entry.
Tuckahoe ZIP Search Controls
Most local tools are ZIP-adjacent rather than ZIP-filtered. The Henrico Real Estate Property Search exposes GPIN, PID, street number, prefix, street name, unit, use code, description, and sort controls. Its primary form does not expose a ZIP filter, although parcel results show a mailing ZIP and address. The public voter status form uses locality and identity inputs, not a public ZIP field.
The official Virginia State Police registry is the clearest documented public portal with ZIP and contiguous-ZIP controls. Its search schema includes first name, last name or registration number, street address, city, county or independent city, ZIP code, the contiguous-ZIP toggle, Search, and Reset. Its map mode also uses street address, city, ZIP, radius, and county or independent city.
Virginia State Police's public registry is the official source for the ZIP and contiguous-ZIP search controls described here.
Use that registry for public-safety notification only. A ZIP, contiguous ZIP, radius, or map result is not a Tuckahoe resident roll and does not establish a complete criminal history or identity from a name alone.
Find Tuckahoe Records by ZIP
A ZIP-centered workflow begins with a full current address, then moves to the system that answers the next question. ZIP narrows a delivery area. It does not replace a locality for the Virginia Citizen Portal or turn an assessor result into a ZIP-wide list. Copy the parcel identifiers and the mailing ZIP from a property result before leaving it, since a GPIN or PID is the bridge to the GIS map and other county records.
- Run the full address through USPS and save the current standardized postal city and ZIP.
- Search the Henrico property system by street fields, GPIN, or PID. Read the returned mailing ZIP and parcel address rather than looking for an unavailable primary ZIP filter.
- Open the county parcel or GIS geography to test the situs against Tuckahoe CDP and Henrico jurisdiction context.
- For a person-first question, use the Virginia Citizen Portal's Henrico locality input and respect any protected public address.
- For a public-safety geography check, use the State Police registry ZIP, contiguous-ZIP, or map controls without treating its result as a general resident directory.
Once the ZIP has narrowed the area to a street, use the Tuckahoe streets reference for the separate address-by-address record path. Business-license inquiry is also address and date based, not a documented ZIP filter, so classify its returned postal city with the same care.
Note: No ZIP-only resident count or Tuckahoe CDP registration statistic was located, so a ZIP result should never be presented as a resident total.
Tuckahoe ZIP Code Boundary Mismatch
ZIP code boundaries do not define Tuckahoe. The Census ZCTA is a statistical approximation and may cover only part of the CDP. The research did not locate an official whole-ZIP Tuckahoe map, a historic ZIP realignment table, or a boundary-share percentage for any of the four codes. Do not replace an unknown share with a visual estimate.
Historic research needs even more restraint. Postal codes did not organize the full early directory or census trail. An old source may use Richmond, Henrico, a magisterial district, a community name, or only a street. For a suspected address change, the supported bridge is current USPS normalization, the parcel's GPIN or PID, old-map and pre-1992 map fields, the deed legal description, and the historic directory street section where available.
- ZIP code
- A USPS delivery code used to route current mail. It is not a city or county boundary.
- ZIP+4
- An added four digits that refine a delivery location within a ZIP. It does not establish CDP membership.
- PO box ZIP
- A ZIP used for post-office box delivery. The Regency location offers PO boxes, but no Tuckahoe-only PO-box geography is implied.
- Unique ZIP
- A code assigned to one institution or delivery arrangement. No such status was documented here for the four Tuckahoe-overlap codes.
- Carrier route
- A delivery sequence used for mail operations. It is not an official Tuckahoe boundary.
Tuckahoe ZIP Search Limits
USPS is the current-mailing authority. Census describes statistical ZIP and CDP relationships. Henrico property and GIS records tie an address to a county parcel. Comparing all three gives a more reliable result than asking one of them to do the others' work. A Richmond or Henrico postal city can be correct while the CDP conclusion still depends on the parcel and Census context.
The ZIP code directory therefore supports a careful first pass, not a claim that everyone in a postal area lives in Tuckahoe. Keep the source, date, and geography with each note. For an older household trail, use address, parcel, deed, directory, and census evidence in the period that created the record.
